The New Standard for Inventory Operations

For most small- to mid-sized businesses, operations like sourcing, shipping, and stocking are powered by systems that haven't kept up. Legacy planning tools were built for enterprise giants — everyone else is left wrestling with spreadsheets, manual reorders, and cash flow guesswork.

I started Moselle to change that. Our platform gives operators of all sizes more clarity and control through smarter systems and better planning tools. The name reflects that ambition. Inspired by the Moselle River in Europe — a quiet force that has moved trade for centuries — it captures what we’re building: something fluid and connected.

That motivation goes back to my childhood, growing up in the aisles and alleys of my family's grocery store in Toronto. Through my father's relentless attention to detail and our whole family's effort, B.J. Supermarket became one of the largest specialty grocers in Toronto's Little India.

By the time I was in college, I was running supply chain operations for our million-dollar business — forecasting demand, managing warehouse schedules, and making real-time decisions that directly impacted our bottom line. I still remember the sting of scrapping spoiled inventory by the truckload because we overbought. That experience made something clear: inventory planning is incredibly fragile. One wrong decision and capital gets locked up in products you can't sell.

The Starting Point: Moselle in 2020

Moselle launched in 2020 to help import-driven businesses operate with more confidence. We began by tackling two critical gaps: Giving brands better visibility into what was in transit and faster access to the capital needed to keep products moving.

From the start, those tools made a difference. But then the pandemic hit, and the global disruption exposed just how brittle everyday systems really were.

That's when our customers began to call out deeper cracks: Forecasting was still happening in Excel, inventory was either stuck or gone, and teams were firefighting delays, stockouts, and capital shortfalls — often all at once. It became clear: the real complexity starts long before a container leaves the port.

So we shifted. Moselle began evolving into a true inventory planning engine — one that could turn awareness into foresight. We focused on helping teams predict needs earlier, balance risk better, and make faster, more confident decisions about their capital and supply chain.

Moselle Today: The Inventory Co-Pilot

The Moselle of today is an intelligent, collaborative system of record and action for inventory operations. As your co-pilot, it helps plan what to order, when to reorder, and where to place inventory, as well as assessing how much capital (and risk) is tied up in each decision.

Here's how it works:

  • Forecasting: AI-informed models factor in seasonality, historical trends, and channel-specific patterns.
  • Smart reordering: Suggestions balance margin protection with stock health.
  • Team workflows: Shared visibility aligns ops, finance, and warehouse teams.
  • Continuous learning: Insights get sharper every cycle, improving accuracy and timing.

We also adapt our product to meet our customers' needs. When Sahajan came to us, the fast-growing skincare brand needed better forecasts to keep up with demand without over-ordering or slowing the momentum.

We centralized Sahajan's inventory and sales data before customizing our platform to fit their unique needs. This allowed us to map out their lead times and production schedules together and figure out the exact right time for reorders. Even as sales surged, inventory stayed lean, freeing up cash for other priorities. Moselle even helped Sahajan handle a surprise spike in demand for a bestseller by catching early warning signals.

What Comes Next

Now that we've seen how Moselle fits into planning meetings, reorder threads, and warehouse standups — we're building with users in mind. The next wave of improvements is already underway, all focused on making Moselle the operational infrastructure your team can grow on:

  • Deeper integrations with ERPs, fulfillment tools, and sales platforms, so teams can sync real-time demand with real-time supply without the back-and-forth.
  • Sector-specific logic that adapts to how you work, whether you're restocking beauty bestsellers, managing seasonality in apparel, or navigating long-lead SKUs in wellness.
  • More autonomy, so Moselle doesn't just flag what's going wrong — it starts suggesting what to do next. We're training the platform to help teams act faster, with more confidence.

These are meaningful upgrades our customers have asked for, and are already rolling out. But they're just the beginning — we're already working on AI-powered enhancements to unlock new ways to plan smarter and move faster.

Why Partner with Moselle

Scaling a business means juggling wins and fires — and we've lived both alongside our customers. We've seen the midnight forecast updates, Slack reorder threads, and endless spreadsheet tabs.

Moselle helps brands shift from manual planning to data-backed decisions that scale.

For Fable, that meant saving 80 hours a month and $120K a year. For Wilet, there were 16% fewer stockouts and an 80% improvement in forecast accuracy. Beyond the numbers, brands using Moselle are more reliable and consistent, making them stronger in the eyes of their customers.

If daily operations are slowing your momentum, let's talk. I'm Lakhveer, founder of Moselle, and I'd love to hear what challenges you're facing — and show you how Moselle can help.
